How Long Does the Program Take?

The program is 1,000 clock hours, and the length of the program is about 30 (full time) to 45 (part time) weeks.

The program is divided into pre-clinical classroom instruction, followed by clinical hands-on experience. In the first part of the curriculum, students learn design principles, techniques, and professional practices through workshops and instruction. This is followed by hands-on clinical experience learned on the salon floor.

Licensure

California License Examination Pass Rates

Graduates of this program complete the 1,200 hours of training required to become eligible for the California Board of Barbering and Cosmetology Licensing Exam. The program is designed to align with California licensure requirements and prepare students to develop the skills and experience needed to pursue licensure as a professional barber in California.

A written examination is required to become a licensed barber in the state of California.

The following is the written examination pass rate for students who took the examination between July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025.
